How Adapt Aligns With the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: Reduced Inequalities

The key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals? Reducing inequalities and ensuring no one is left behind.

We've talked about how our agency aligns with #5  and #7 of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and today we're thrilled to share more about SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.

ICYMI: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

Reducing inequalities and ensuring no one is left behind are key to achieving these SDGs. The Global Goals explains, “In order for nations to flourish, equality and prosperity must be available to everyone – regardless of gender, race, religious beliefs or economic status. When every individual is self-sufficient, the entire world prospers.”

You might be wondering how Adapt, a digital agency, can possibly help this mission, but to us, it’s obvious. The internet is an integral part of the world. It’s how we pay our bills, learn crucial information about our communities, and stay in touch with our family and friends. Basically: the internet is essential for everyday life therefore, it MUST be accessible.

We must remove as many barriers to entry as possible to level the world’s playing field and make it equitable for all. Our mission is to empower and promote the social, economic, and political inclusion of all, regardless of age, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, or economic status.

OUR GOALS:

  • Reduce inequality by reducing excluding barriers on the web

  • Improve the usability and accessibility of every website we help with

HOW WE DO IT:

  • Usability & Accessibility tests

  • Lighthouse tests before and after every solution to measure impact and improvement

P.S. SEO rewards the accessible 🤫 We talked a bit about this here, but apart from providing a much better user experience, web accessibility is also closely related to better Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

This means that Google will reward you and your business if you ensure a certain level of accessibility initiatives, such as providing alternative texts for images and descriptive links which can be read by a screen reader and a Google crawler.

Let’s make this the year of accessibility! Learn more here and stay tuned for more updates about Adapt’s sustainable development efforts…

If you align with our mission, let's talk! Together we can make a difference.
